How good Is RTX 2070 Super For Gaming
Nvidia RTX 2070 Super 8GB is still a fantastic graphics card for gaming. This GPU is still capable of running the newest games at good fps which is nothing strange since it isn’t that old of a GPU. Sometimes, In order to get the best results, you will need to adjust some graphics settings.
Below this text, I will test Nvidia RTX 2070 Super in the 3 most played resolutions: 1080p, 1440p, and 4k. In order to see the differences between these three resolutions, I used the same Ryzen 5 3600 processor and tested it together with RTX 2070 Super in 5 popular games.
Let’s start with 1080p resolution first, then we will try the higher resolutions later. Continue Reading!
RTX 2070 Super – Gaming In 1080p Resolution
As I said before, I tested the RTX 2070 Super with Ryzen 5 3600. It’s well known that for 1080p resolution – a graphics card needs strong support from the processor in order to get high fps on good graphics preset.
You can see in the table below that this graphics card-processor combo is really good for 1080p. Although fps aren’t that high, every game that I tested was on Ultra or Very High graphics preset.
If you have a higher refresh rate monitor and you are not satisfied with these fps, you can always lower the graphics details.
Battlefield 5 and Mafia Definitive Edition easily went above 100 fps on average even on the highest settings, while in the rest of the games I had smooth gameplay as well!
To cut the story take the look at the table below!
specs: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super 8Gb, Ryzen 5 3600, 16Gb ddr4, 1Tb SSD - res:1080p | AVERAGE FPS | 1% LOW FPS |
---|---|---|
Mafia Definitive Edition (High settings - 1080p) | 105 fps | 71 fps |
Battlefield V (Ultra settings - 1080p) | 131 fps | 73 fps |
Red Dead Redemption 2 (Ultra settings - 1080p) | 73 fps | 62 fps |
Horizon Zero Dawn (Ultra settings - 1080p) | 84 fps | 63 fps |
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Very High settings - 1080p) | 81 fps | 54 fps |
RTX 2070 Super – Gaming In 2k Resolution
Now the sweet middle, I tested RTX 2070 Super in 2k resolution with the same Ryzen 5 3600 processor.
Since I knew that this graphics card is capable of 1440p gaming, I didn’t change the graphics settings from the 1080p testing. Obviously, the fps might suffer since I will run the games on Ultra or Very High settings, but for 1440p resolution, this graphics card showed how powerful it actually is.
The only game that had an average fps under 60 is Red Dead Redemption 2, but since it was on the Ultra settings you can expect this Graphics Card to achieve much more on the lower settings.
In the rest of the games, the RTX 2070 Super gave me a good time while I was playing them. Although most of these games are hard to run, I had smooth gameplay.
Take a look at the table below.
specs: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super 8Gb, Ryzen 5 3600, 16Gb ddr4, 1Tb SSD - res:2k(1440p) | AVERAGE FPS | 1% LOW FPS |
---|---|---|
Mafia Definitive Edition (High settings - 1440p) | 95 fps | 61 fps |
Battlefield V (Ultra settings - 1440p) | 92 fps | 51 fps |
Red Dead Redemption 2 (Ultra settings - 1440p) | 54 fps | 45 fps |
Horizon Zero Dawn (Ultra settings - 1440p) | 71 fps | 47 fps |
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Very High settings - 1440p) | 69 fps | 57 fps |
RTX 2070 Super – Gaming In 4k Resolution
Finally, the resolution that most people ask for, at least for this Graphics card – 4k. I tested the same 5 games with the same processor, but this time I lowered the graphics details in order to get smooth gameplay.
Have in mind that the processor isn’t that important when gaming in high resolutions, especially in 4k. But although the graphics card does the biggest job, you need a solid processor that won’t bottleneck. As you can see, the Ryzen 5 3600 did a good job when it comes to supporting the RTX 2070 Super.
As you can see In the table below, Battlefield 5 and Horizon Zero Dawn passed 60 fps, while the other 3 games didn’t. Even tho some games were under 60 fps, they were still more than playable. AC Odyssey had the lowest fps, but considering I tested it on 4k Very High, this is more than a good result.
Take a look!
specs: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super 8Gb, Ryzen 5 3600, 16Gb ddr4, 1Tb SSD - res:4k | AVERAGE FPS | 1% LOW FPS |
---|---|---|
Mafia Definitive Edition (Medium & Low settings - 4k) | 51 fps | 45 fps |
Battlefield V (Low settings - 4k) | 82 fps | 61 fps |
Red Dead Redemption 2 (Medium settings - 4k) | 57 fps | 48 fps |
Horizon Zero Dawn (Low settings - 4k) | 61 fps | 34 fps |
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Very High settings - 4k) | 42 fps | 38 fps |
