For the first benchmark, I wanted to test the Nvidia GTX 1070 in its playground, 1080p resolution. It’s well known that for years, Nvidia GTX 1070 was one of the best solutions for 1080p gamers, and a lot of people actually purchased this GPU because of the gaming in it.
Considering that GTX 1070 is a little bit older, I didn’t want to pair it with the best possible processor out there. For this benchmark, I paired it with the AMD Ryzen 5 2600, which is more than good to see the real fps that will most people get.
As you can see in the table below, I tested these two components together in 5 different popular games.
As expected, every game that I tested averaged more than 60 fps, which are great results considering that every game had increased graphics settings.

Is Nvidia GTX 1070 Good For 1440p (2k) Gaming?
For the second benchmark, I wanted to test the Nvidia GTX 1070 in 1440p resolution. A lot of people are loving this resolution considering that it is the perfect mixture of performance and video quality.
Since I wanted you to see the difference clearly, I tested Nvidia GTX 1070 in the same 5 games and I kept the same graphics settings.
Once again, the processor that I used for the benchmark is AMD Ryzen 5 2600. Have in mind that in 2k and 4k resolution, the graphics card is doing the bigger part of the job
As you can see in the table below, there is a clear fps drop from the 1080p resolution performance. Although not every game averaged over 60 fps, the gameplay in almost every one of them was smooth.
Overall, you can definitely get even higher fps in 2k resolution if you adjust your setting right, but even on increased details, you will enjoy the gaming.

Is Nvidia GTX 1070 Good For 4k Gaming?
For the last benchmark, I wanted to see if Gtx 1070 is powerful enough to run games in 4k resolution. Once again I paired the GTX 1070 with AMD Ryzen 5 2600, but as I said, the graphics card is doing most of the job in 4k resolution.
Unfortunately, In the same 5 games, Nvidia GTX 1070 didn’t perform too well. If you take a look at the table below, every game out of the 5 that I tested averaged well below 60 frames per second.
Is this a sign of GTX 1070 weakness and age or these results are normal?
Considering that this graphics card is more than 6 years old, it’s normal that the graphics card won’t perform that good in 4k resolution. Even back in the day, when GTX 1070 was released, people didn’t use it primarily for 4k resolution.

Considering that there are a lot of newer graphics cards on the market that will have much longer software support and newer technologies inside of them, I think that buying the Nvidia GTX 1070 isn’t a good decision unless you find it cheaper on the used marketplace.
