In the paragraphs below, I will test this graphics card in all 3 famous resolutions paired with AMD Ryzen 7 5800x. I tested them in 6 popular AAA games, so keep reading to see the results.
How Good Is Nvidia RTX 3080 in 1080p Gaming?
The First Benchmark that I did with Nvidia RTX 3080 is in 1080p resolution. Although a lot of people aren’t going to play AAA video games in 1080p with a graphics card this good, I will do the benchmark so you can have an image of how good this GPU can perform.
In order to get the most out of this graphics card, I paired RTX 3080 with AMD Ryzen 7 5800x, which is more than good for gaming, especially 1080p.
As you can see, I benchmarked 6 games that aren’t that easy to run, since some of them are a bit unoptimized. Every game that I tested was on the highest graphics settings, which will also load the GPU even more.
Every game below that I benchmarked in 1080p averaged more than 60 frames per second. Although that might won’t seem like a good thing, averaging more than 60 frames per second on the highest possible graphics details is pretty well.
If you take a look at the table, you will see that most games even averaged more than 100fps or around that, which is impressive.

How Good Is Nvidia RTX 3080 in 1440p Gaming?
The second benchmark is done in the resolution which is the middle of the quality and performance for most users – 1440p. Once again, to get the most out of RTX 3080, I paired it with AMD Ryzen 7 5800x and benchmarked them in the same 6 games as in the last test.
If you take a closer look at the table below and the table above from the 1080p test, you can see that in Cyberpunk 2077 and AC Valhalla, these two components averaged more in 1440p.
That happened because, in 2k resolution, the graphics card is the one with the bigger impact on the performance. Also, in 1440p, DLSS was turned On, which is proved as a good thing to do If you want to achieve higher framerates.
Once again, every game averaged more than 60 fps and a lot of them can easily be played at 144Hz on monitors with higher refresh rates if you adjust the graphics settings the right way.

How Good Is Nvidia RTX 3080 in 4k Gaming?
The last benchmark and maybe the most important one for most people reading this is in 4k resolution. If you take a look at the table below, you can see that I kept the same graphics settings for the 4k test as in the 1440p benchmark.
That way you can clearly see the difference in performance between these two resolutions.
Although the performance and the results in the 4k resolution depend mainly on the power of your graphics card, there was still a powerful CPU as support since I once again used AMD Ryzen 7 5800x.
As you can see in the table below, only 2 games out of 6 averaged more than 60 fps. You need to have in mind that 50 fps in 4k resolution on Max graphics settings is very impressive, and there is a big difference between 50 fps there and 50 fps in 1080p resolution.
Every game that I tested looked gorgeous and the gameplay was more than smooth and fluid the whole time.

Nvidia RTX 3080 vs AMD RX 6800 XT – Gaming Test
We all know that Nvidia RTX 3080 is a very powerful graphics card, and at the same time, there are a lot of people thinking that AMD is doing a really good job and that race in the GPU market is very close.
I wanted to check that statements, so I tried to compare Nvidia RTX 3080 with the biggest AMD Rival it has – AMD RX 6800 XT. If we look at the paper, they are pretty much equivalent. Have in mind that AMD RX 6800 XT has 16Gb of VRAM and RTX 3080 “only” 10GB.
To test them properly, I paired them with the Intel i9 10900K, although I didn’t need a strong processor since the benchmark was done in the 4k resolution.
I tested them both in 6 games, and If you take a look at the table below, you can see that AMD RX 6800 XT averaged more fps in only 1 game. That really shows us how good of a job Nvidia did with this graphics card since Rx 6800 XT is a very good GPU itself.
