Introduction

In mid-2019, Nvidia Released their Brand New Graphics card that was supposed to completely change the market. When Nvidia RTX 2060 Super got released, a lot of people were excited and they want to see what Nvidia made for them as soon as possible.

Three years later and people spent a lot of time playing on this GPU, but there are still some questions that are not answered properly. Since I wanted to do it myself, I got one in my hands today and I will write everything you need to know before purchasing RTX 2060 Super in 2022.

How Good Is Nvidia RTX 2060 Super In 2022? Short Topic Answer

Nvidia RTX 2060 Super is still one of the best graphics cards to buy in 2022 if your goal is gaming in both 1080p and 1440p. With 8GB of DDR6 memory, this graphics card provides you with a very good solution, even for the future, especially if you pair it with a good processor and Fast Ram.

How Good is Nvidia RTX 2060 Super For Gaming?

As I said before, It is well known that a lot of people buy this graphics card because of its performance in 1440p, and although this graphics card is capable of gaming in 4k resolution, most people only use it for 1080p, and as said, 1440p.

To test this myself, I paired this Nvidia RTX 2060 Super with AMD Ryzen 5 3600, which will be more than enough to support this GPU and maintain the fps. I will test them both together in 1080p, 1440p, and 4k in the same 5 video games, so you can see the difference between performances in different resolutions.

Let’s jump into some gaming!

How Good is Nvidia RTX 2060 Super For Gaming in 1080p?

The first test for today was done in the most popular resolution, and for the most people that only have 1080p monitors, this is the only test that they would look at.

As I said, I will try 5 different games in 1080p, with Nvidia RTX 2060 Super and AMD Ryzen 5 3600 paired together. Have in mind, that all 5 games aren’t that easy to run, and achieving high framerates in them is quite a hard task.

As you can see in the table below, all 5 games that I tested were on either Ultra/Max graphics settings, which also requires the full strength of the GPU.

All 5 games that I benchmarked averaged more than 60 fps, and 3 of them even averaged more than 100 fps, which tells us that gaming at a Higher refresh rate is possible with RTX 2060 Super.

If you have monitor that support either 144 Hz or 240 Hz, you can easily get these numbers in 1080p, but you will most likely need to adjust your video settings the right way.

Specs: Nvidia RTX 2060 Super, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD AVERAGE FPS 1% LOW FPS
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Ultra settings - 1080p) 67 fps 55 fps
Battlefield V (Ultra settings - 1080p) 129 fps 73 fps
Horizon Zero Dawn (Ultra settings - 1080p) 78 fps 62 fps
Just Cause 4 (Very High settings - 1080p) 107 fps 82 fps
Resident Evil 3 (Max settings - 1080p) 161 fps 109 fps

How Good is Nvidia RTX 2060 Super For Gaming in 1440p?

The second benchmark, and maybe the most important for the majority of people that are buying this graphics card, or already have it is – test in 1440p.

Once again, I paired the RTX 2060 Super with the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and I will test them in the same 5 games, so you can clearly see the difference in performance for each resolution.

As you can see in the table, I didn’t change the video settings in any of the 5 games that I tested, which will also affect the fps in these games since there were all played on Ultra-Max settings.

The results of this benchmark really amazed me. There was not big of a difference between the 1080p and 1440p, at least not as big of a difference as I’m used to seeing.

If you look closely in the two tables, one above and one under this, you can compare them and see that there is no huge drop in fps, which really shows us that Nvidia made a very good 1440p Graphics card.

To cut the story, you should take a look at the table yourself.

Specs: Nvidia RTX 2060 Super, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD AVERAGE FPS 1% LOW FPS
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Ultra settings - 1440p) 53 fps 44 fps
Battlefield V (Ultra settings - 1440p) 108 fps 68 fps
Horizon Zero Dawn (Ultra settings - 1440p) 57 fps 48 fps
Just Cause 4 (Very High settings - 1440p) 80 fps 62 fps
Resident Evil 3 (Max settings - 1440p) 92 fps 72 fps

How Good is Nvidia RTX 2060 Super For Gaming in 4k?

The last test that I did, was in the resolution that isn’t the perfect one when it comes to this RTX 2060 Super. Although this graphics card is made for the 1440p and 1080p, it can still play a lot of video games in 4k without problems, but the framerates won’t be perfect all the time.

Once again, I paired this RTX 2060 Super with the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and I tested them both together in the same 5 games as in the other two tests before, so you can see the performance drop in the 4k.

Although the fps in some of the games weren’t that good, and most of them averaged under 60 fps, you have to know that 55 fps in 4k resolution looks and feels much better than 55 fps in 1080p.

Maybe you can see that I changed the graphics settings on some games to Low or Medium settings, but even on these graphics presets the game looks beautiful in 4k.

Gaming in 4k is definitely possible with RTX 2060 Super, but for the best experience, I suggest you stay at the 1440p, at least for AAA games.

Take a look at the table yourself.

Specs: Nvidia RTX 2060 Super, AMD Ryzen 5 3600, 16GB DDR4, 1TB SSD AVERAGE FPS 1% LOW FPS
Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Low settings - 4k) 66 fps 59 fps
Battlefield V (Ultra settings - 4k) 56 fps 41 fps
Horizon Zero Dawn (Medium settings - 4k) 45 fps 24 fps
Just Cause 4 (Low settings - 4k) 58 fps 37 fps
Resident Evil 3 (Max settings - 4k) 55 fps 43 fps
